If you’re getting tired, you might be on a hill ⛰
This is a hill.
It doesn’t look like one, and it doesn’t even really feel like one. But, if you’re on it, you’ll probably notice that you’re moving a little slower and breathing a little harder. Life is often like that. It’s the imperceptible and cumulative challenges that wear us out.
We start to judge the extra effort things are taking. Maybe we see it as a signal that we aren’t cut out for the challenge: That the wind in our face means we don’t have what it takes. Maybe we even start to believe that the journey is always going to be uphill. Who could sustain that kind of endless effort? So, we turn around and walk back down the hill? No! We take a breath. We pause to collect ourselves. We pat ourselves on the back for all the strength we are building striding up this hill.
Ups are followed by downs. And downs are followed by ups. Our job is to simply see them as ups and downs, not as great big stories that add up to something they’re not. Your journey, whatever it may be, won’t always be a fast moving downhill thrill ride. If things are feeling challenging right now, maybe it’s because you aren’t coasting. Maybe you’re climbing. Maybe you’re doing the hard part.
Let's keep climbing,
Aransas
