I loved this conversation. 2 things really stuck out to me. One, we don't realize our own level of interestingness (probably not a word). What I mean is that we don't think that what we do or who we are are interesting to a potential partner. Case in point, Lakshmi's conversation with the engineer. She was literally sitting on the edge of her seat listening to the story. Two, we should create a few stories to share not just rattle of our roles or what we do. I was an educator for a long time. I have some stories. I'm also a parent and a grandparent. More stories. I never thought of it like that. Ok and one more thing, date myself. Bingo
Thank you so much for this comment! I love every word of it and I’m so excited to share it with Lakshmi. I truly deeply love humans and can’t get enough of their stories. I built my whole career around stories in fact. Even just reading your comment, I found myself craving hearing all the stories behind your high-level identities. I was at an event with Maria Shriver this weekend and she challenged everyone in the audience to write a memoir. We really are all so much more interesting than we give ourselves credit for. And we deserve to be surrounded by people who find us wildly fascinating too! Have you made plans for your first date with yourself?
You’re so welcome. I haven’t planned my self date yet. Will do very soon. I’ll keep you posted.
