Scary Mommy
In our next episode of The Uplifters Podcast, I talk to Rola Ghasani, who was born in Lebanon, grew up in Australia, and raised three daughters in Texas. We talk about inherited patterns, and what we learned about communication from the generations of mothers who came before us. And we both share honestly about moments when we’ve been the “scary mommy.” Maybe you’ve been her too? That person who has yelled, or veiled her frustration and tried to make everything look fine when really nothing is fine. We share what’s helped us find and use our voices, and be more authentic with ourselves and our families, and how that’s helped us find a little peace.
I really wish I’d seen this video before we recorded that episode. In it, Dr. Becky Kennedy shares the “single most important parenting strategy”: Repair. But, of course, it’s not just for parenting. It’s for every relationship, especially the one we have with ourselves.
While you’re here, please vote for us
I promise this is the last time I’ll ask (since voting closes on Thursday 😜), but we still need your help as a voter in the Signal Podcast Awards! If you haven’t voted already, please do. It takes less than a minute and could make a huge difference. If you’ve already voted, thank you! Please share the link with others as well. Winning these awards could really help us reach more of the people who most need to hear these incredible stories (and I really want to dress up in an Uplifter Pink dress and accept an award on behalf of all Uplifters).
Thank you for being here, and for all you do to make your world, better and brighter.
Let’s keep rising higher, together, 💓 Aransas
