🌞 Happy Mindful Monday.

The more emotionally invested we are in a situation, relationship, or subject matter the more likely we are to take things personally. Research shows that these emotionally driven reactions influence our choices and perceptions as well. But, we all probably have some people and places that set us on edge. Our reactive response can quickly become a habit. Without thinking, we react from the assumption that we are being attacked, challenged, or disrespected.

In the latest episode of The Uplifters Podcast, you’ll hear how Sam France unlearned her response to situations that used to send her reeling. This article from Psychology Today outlines clear steps for breaking these patterns so that we can show up as our best selves, especially with the people we care the most about.

So, here’s a cue for you today:

In what relationships, might your automatic responses be unhelpful? What tiny step might you want to take toward reprogramming that response?

Our next Uplifter Workshop is on the books for Wednesday, August 2 at 7:30 PM ET! If you haven’t received your invite, just let me know by replying to this email. We will be talking to Coach Lisa Crozier from episode 13.

We all have natural tendencies and patterns. Some are superpowers, some are giant blocks getting in our way over and over again. If any of these tendencies are getting in your way, you don’t want to miss this session:

  1. Setting unrealistically high standards

  2. Fear of making mistakes

  3. Excessive attention to detail

  4. Procrastination

  5. Self-criticism

  6. Seeking external validation

  7. Difficulty delegating tasks

  8. Workaholism

  9. Never feeling "good enough"

  10. Hyper-focus on what isn’t perfect about me instead of all that’s good

  11. Difficulty developing close personal relationships with other women

In this workshop, we will explore some of the ways we unconsciously protect ourselves from true intimacy, trust, acceptance, and deep connection through our quest to be more and better. I learn so much from Lisa every time we talk, and I’m beyond excited about this session with her!
