One of the things that Jenn Liddy and I talk about in the latest episode of The Uplifters Podcast is the sunk cost fallacy, which refers to the belief that we must keep doing something we've invested money, effort, or time into—even if the current costs outweigh the benefits.
Guest after guest on The Uplifters Podcast has shared some version of this.
Of course, it’s also possible that I hear this in every story because of the Baader-Meinhof Phenomenon (aka the Recency Bias or Frequency Illusion, aka something you recently learned about suddenly seems to appear everywhere 😜) because over the past year, I’ve been keenly aware of my own sunk cost fallacies in relationships, running, business, etc…
I suspect lots of us Uplifters are so honorable about our commitments that we keep going past the point of reward. So, here’s your Mindful Monday Coaching Prompt:
