What Are Your Personal Success Measures?
Happy Fearless Friday, Friends!
I’m enjoying digging through the insights from our survey project and sharing them with you. Today, though, I want to take a step back to something fundamental.
The last section of the survey asks you to rate your satisfaction with different areas of your life. But, each of us defines satisfaction differently. That’s why I encourage my clients to determine their personal success metrics.
They differ for everyone but include things like feeling calm, centered, balanced, energized, or peaceful. They can’t be measured by stepping on a scale or looking at your bank account. Rather, they can only be felt. Knowing your unique definition of “what good feels like” and paying attention to how it varies situationally can be game-changing for unlocking your happiness and habits. (Spoiler 🚨: you may find that when one measure goes up, another comes down- these things are all related.)
To create your Success Metric Scale, try this:
1. Ask yourself how you feel when things are going well. Aim to identify 3-5 felt measures that truly inspire you.
2. Decide how you’ll measure your them. I like to use a ten scale: 10 represents highest, and 1 represents lowest.
3. Check in with yourself every week, ideally at the same time each week (hello habit!), and rate your current level with each metric.
4. Notice the patterns: what behaviors, interactions, and thoughts drive your metrics up and down? How do the metrics relate to one another? Are you less energized when you’re fully engaged? Vice versa?
If you need help determining your measures, just reach out. That’s what I’m here for. ❤️ And please keep sharing the survey with your friends and family. Aransas
