What Is All That Scrolling Doing To You?
Happy Fearless Friday, Friends!
One of the things we wanted understand with our Daily Practice Survey was the frequency and consistency with which people practice behaviors. This was important because research shows that the more often we do things, the more likely we are to do them automatically- without thinking. Those unconscious actions (aka habits) shape our lives. We have analyzed 50 activities across 1000 respondents and now we know what people are doing all day every day. So, what are people doing most often (🥁, please)? Strolling through the wild streets of social media.
Science has proven that the voices and messages we hear most often shape our mindsets and beliefs, and have even been proven to have a massive influence on our behaviors, so we should probably get intentional about which voices we let whisper in our ears every day.
It’s high time for a Social Scan!
1. Do a quick pass of the first 20 names and messages in your text app, and a scan of the first 20 messages you see when you open your favorite social app(s).
2. Take a deep breath, close your eyes and ask yourself:
How do I feel emotionally right now? Calm? Anxious? Irritable? Energized? Bored? ________?
How does my body feel right now? Tight? Sore? Pained? Energized? Comfortable? ________?
How are my thoughts right now? Clear? Calm? Swirling? Curious? ________?
How is my spirit right now? Aligned? Strained? Longing? Complete? ________?
3. What do these responses say to you about how you spend your time and the voices you let into your head? What adjustments might you want to make to the way you spend your precious time based on what you’re noticing?
Let me know what you find as you ask these questions. And please keep sharing the survey with your friends and family. Aransas
