Turn Up The Wattage on Your Light Today! 💡

I stumbled upon this letter from my 13-year-old daughter to my 11-year-old daughter when I was helping them re-decorate their room recently.
“Dear Derby, I am writing to you today to share how much you mean to me and how much I treasure being your sister. I know you might find it annoying whenever I start gushing about how wonderful you look in your fierce and stylish outfit each day, but I can’t help but tell you. You are always so confident in everything you do, which I not only admire, but aspire to. There is almost nothing I treasure more than keeping the light inside of you bright and burning for all to see and be inspired by. I am glad more than anything that I get to see you every day and hold up a foam finger with the words “Go Derby! Seize the day!“, as if you ever needed encouragement. I will always be your number one fan and partner in crime. Your sister, Savannah”
This level of acceptance, admiration, and support are really all any of us want from life I think. We may not always have the gift of a family member or friend to give it to us, though. Good thing the voice we hear most often is our own. So, what if today we talk back to that voice in our heads that says we are too much or not enough? What if instead we give ourselves a little love and be our own number one fan, and seize the day, and burn our lights soooo freaking bright?
