The Easier Way To Actually Create Change
Happy Fearless Friday, Friends!
My grandma, at 93, recently got her first bifocals. Though they helped her see better (and maybe even hear better 😉) she was reluctant to wear them. Every time she put them on, she felt a little woozy, tippy, and trippy. She worried she might tumble. So, she started slowly. At first, she wore them just in her room, then as she walked around the house doing chores. Now, she wears them outside while she walks the dog. She’s finding a new balance, little hacks that make the adjustment easier and seeing her world in a new way.
When I think back to the big and small changes I’ve made in the past, they usually follow the same path. Slow starts. Little experiments. Small wins. Over and over.
When I think back to the changes that I’ve started and promptly stopped, the path usually looked more like diving head first, bruising my noggin', and retreating to my old ways.
So, if your plans to play music or write daily, learn Spanish, stop eating sweets, get fit, etc are feeling a little tippy, trippy, or tumbly, maybe this can be a reminder, to slow down, simplify, and play with smaller, simpler asks that let you learn and grow with patience, so that you can, like Grandma, see more clearly.
You’re right on time.
