Making Space, Part 2
Happy Fearless Friday, Friends!
I received so many powerful responses to my note last week about clearing space for what lies ahead that I am returning to the topic again this week. Honestly, the ideas were so good that it felt selfish to horde them for myself (and so much new stuff is creeping into my home and life during the holidays that, frankly, it seems urgent).
Liz edited her recurring subscriptions and memberships to save over $300 a month. The things she canceled were important to her at one time, but her needs are different now. She reinvested that money in high-yield CDs to multiply the benefits.
Sabrina Marie Kondo’d her yard. She “looked at each bush and thought, ‘Does this bring me as much joy as the dahlias that I could plant here would?’ So many bushes did not make the cut. Now with some aggressive pruning, a little deforestation and some back-breaking transplants, my yard is a blank canvas awaiting spring. And it is also a vessel holding 2000 bulbs while the dahlia tubers sit in the dark in the cellar, getting ready for their moment to shine.”
Here are a few other ideas that came through:
⭕️Do an annual calendar clean-up by removing any standing appointments that no longer vitally need your attention.
⭕️Adjust your apps. Put the things you want to see and engage with most often up front, and hit delete on the things that are no longer essential to have at your fingertips.
⭕️Do a closet edit and pass along the clothes that no longer fit your body, tastes, lifestyle. Letting them go means past versions of yourself aren’t getting in the way when you’re deciding how to show up today.
⭕️Review your relationships. Notice who you spend the most time with. Are they right for who you are now and who you want to become?
⭕️Update your eating and fitness norms. Do they still serve the goals that matter to you? If not, maybe it’s time to refresh them. (I’ve done this over the past year and it’s been game-changing!)
🔥 💫 Feeling fired up and ready to make 2023 something extra special? Maybe it’s time to boldly review your dreams and goals. Do you have a mental list of projects, goals or dreams that have been waiting on your attention for months, years, or even decades? Maybe it’s time to write those things down and see what really hungers for your attention and what is ready to be released. Letting go is powerful and clarifying, and sometimes it can be the very thing we need to move out of overthinking and into action. As a little holiday gift to you, here’s a worksheet I use with new Uplifters in our community. It’s designed to help you reflect on what matters to you most now, to make the most impact with the moments that lie ahead.
I can't wait to hear what you discover as you make space for all that's ahead!
